We Represent Feminist Press

Feminist Press

THE MISSION OF THE FEMINIST PRESS is to publish and promote the most powerful voices of women from all eras and all regions of the globe. Now in its 38th year, the Press has brought nearly 300 critically acclaimed works by and about women into print, enriching the literary canon, expanding the historical record, and influencing public discussion about issues fundamental to women.

As the Press moves forward into the 21st century, we continue to bring vital new voices to public attention. Our goals are:

  • To PUBLISH inspiring works of literature, both old and new, by women from around the world.
  • To RECOVER precious out-of-print and never-in-print documents, establishing the history of women around the globe.
  • To INFORM readers everywhere on urgent social issues relevant to women.
  • To SUPPORT outreach to bring books to underserved readers and achieve activist and educational goals.
  • To GIVE delight and intellectual stimulation to our growing audience of readers and writers.
  • In recognition of its special role in bringing awareness to international women's issues, The Feminist Press was granted NGO status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations in 2000.
