saqi
Saqi was founded in 1984 with the inspiration of printing quality academic and general interest books on the Middle East. Saqi's links with cutting-edge and authoritative voices from North Africa and the Middle East have led to a rigorous reassessment of Arab cultural heritage. Since then Saqi has expanded its network to include writers from all over the world. Saqi publishes a wide range of titles including books on history, politics, art, architecture, gender issues, women's studies and cuisine. Highlights of our 2007 list include Black Britain: A Photographic History and The Lost and Left Behind: Stories from the Age of Extinctions, an inspiring examination of the impact of extinctions - of languages, plants, species and tribes. Debuting in 2008, our Brief Introductions series offers insights into Arabic advances in science, culture and the arts which have greatly contributed to our understanding of the world around us. A magnet for daring new voices from across the globe, Saqi's broad international outlook has never been more relevant. |
